COD:TEMPLATE
COD:T

There are many templates in use in Byte Sandbox Wikia and these are only subset, representing the most important and commonly used ones. If you feel that a template belongs on this page, do not hesitate to add it.

  • Category:Templates should list all templates in the wiki, categorized into the various subcategories.
  • The Template namespace always has all templates in the wiki, unsorted.

What are templates? Edit

Wiki templates provide a means to insert the same content over and over in different (or the same) pages. This saves editors the hassle of duplicating the same text again and again, and also helps ensure consistency.

Templates are generally shown with the format required to use the template. Clicking the template name takes you to the template's page, where you can see what it looks like and how it is used.

Detailed instructions on the usage of each template should exist either on the template page, or the template's talk page.

Article management templates Edit

When a page has little or no useful information, then it is likely a stub. This template will signify that an article is too short in length and should be greatly expanded upon. It may be removed once the page is beyond stub length. This, unlike the rest in this category of templates, is placed at the bottom of the page.
100px One of our forward unit pages is pinned down and needs our expansion!
It is requested that this article, or a section of this article, needs to be expanded.
Add to the discussion on what needs to be improved, or start your own discussion on the talk page.

If a page still needs more information in certain parts, then it is in need of expansion. Any article that is beyond the length of a stub and is in need of more information should have this template placed on the page. It may be removed when the page has been expanded upon.
55px We are in grave danger from the spoilers. Our freedom – our very way of life – is at risk.

Warning! This article contains spoilers for an upcoming or recently released product.
Read at your own risk!

Any page that contains spoilers on a recently released or soon to be released product in its context should have this template in the article as a warning to the reader.

Sometimes a page is deemed by a user as needing to be deleted, and will bring up the request at COD:AFD. If this case, the deletion template should be placed on the article in question.

In some cases, an article may meet the criteria to be speedy deleted, not needing to be voted upon by the community. This template should be placed on an article that can be speedy deleted. Please make sure when adding this to a page that the article meets the criteria for speedy deletion.

An article may be protected against edits by unregistered users or even registered users due to vandalism and/or traffic flood. Once an article has been protected, this template should be placed on the page. It may be removed once the page's protection has expired.

When new or questionable information is added to articles, it is usually backed up by a source. If an article is in need of sources for certain information, add this template to the page. It may be removed when proper citations have been provided.

High traffic pages are edited a lot, and sometimes that means that grammar, spelling or even the entire page quality may be less than desirable. Add this template to an article that needs to conform more to the Manual of Style. It may be removed after the page has been cleaned-up.

Articles that are of high quality may be nominated for featured status at Requests for Featured Articles. Pages that have been nominated should have this template be placed at the top of the page.

Articles that are of need of improvement are typically brought up at Requests for Improvement Drive Articles. Should a page be nominated for the Improvement Drive, add this template to the top of that page.

Should an article be in the middle of a large revamp or expansion, this template can be used to inform other users that it is currently under construction.

A disambiguation page is used when there are several articles that fall under the same name (eg. War Pig is a disambiguation page for War Pig (level) and War Pig (tank)). This template is to remain indefinitely on the disambiguation page along with the disambiguation links to prevent confusion.
[source?]
Unlike {{source}}, this template can be used next to sentences or phrases that are in need of a source. Only when an article has multiple instances of this template should {{source}} be used instead.

Welcome to the wiki!Edit

Hello and welcome to the Call of Duty Wiki! Thanks for your contributions. We hope you'll stick around to make even more!

Have you created your user page yet? It's your own personal page, and you can do anything you want with it! Your user page will also help us get to know you as an editor better. However, it also has some rules you should know about, so don't just start posting everything!

Here are some links that you may find helpful:

  • Recent changes provides you with a list of pages that other users are currently editing, which might give you an idea of where you can help out.
  • The help pages are a resource for you to use if you are new to wikis or need a guide for editing.
  • The forums are a good place to ask any questions you may have, or start your own discussion.
  • The Call of Duty Wiki's policies and guidelines are some rules for you to follow, and will also help you make better contributions.

Still have questions? Feel free to [[User talk:{{{1}}}|ask me]] or contact another administrator. Sysops' names are highlighted in green and bureaucrats' names are highlighted in cyan. When leaving a message, leave ~~~~ at the end of your post so we can recognize you.

We hope you enjoy editing here, and look forward to seeing you around!

==Vandalism==

Hi. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions here, at least one of your recent edits did not appear to be constructive, and has been reverted. If you continue to vandalize any pages, you will receive a block for an appropriate amount of time. As such, please refrain from doing so. Thanks.

{{{2}}}

Although it is courtesy to assume good faith with new users, nonconstructive edits that can be seen as vandalism should be brought to their attention. On the user's talk page, place {{subst:Vandalism|~~~~}} to use this template.
== Block ==
Wiki
Due to your unacceptable behavior, you have been blocked for {{{1}}}. You are welcome to come back and edit sensibly after the block is up, however it is very strongly advised that you read and review our policies thoroughly before you start to edit again. If you believe your block is unfair you can leave a message on this page and an administrator will consider it.

Any more unacceptable behavior and another block will be issued. Thank you.

Users that have been blocked should have {{subst:blocked|PERIODOFBLOCK|~~~~}} added to their talk page to notify them of the temporary, or in some cases, permanent ban.

Bad Edit Edit

An edit you recently made to a page was undone because it was either:
  • Incorrect
  • Contained poor English
  • Did not conform to Wiki policies
  • Unnecessary
  • Concerned real life info, which is not generally allowed
  • Contained speculation, which is not generally allowed
  • Opinionated
  • Featured a formatting error

Please read the Manual of Style and the policies in order to brush up on the style and professionalism that is expected on this wiki.
You are still free to make edits; however, please make sure they are up to standards!
Thanks!

Although it is courtesy to assume good faith with new users, sub-par edits that are reverted should be brought to their attention. On the user's talk page, place {{subst:Bad Edit|~~~~}} to use this template.
==Advertising==

Text here.

Welcome to the Call of Duty Wiki. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions here, at least one of your uploaded files or recent edits did not appear to be beneficial to the wiki, and has been removed. Advertising includes, but is not limited to:

  • Uploading non-official videos which do not clarify the article in question, such as machinimas made by fans.
  • Uploading files ridden with logos from outside sources.
  • Uploading montages or gameplay videos which may glorify the uploader and do not contribute to the subject.
  • Making comments, edits, blogs or pages which promote any kind of service, product or 3rd party opinion.

Please do not use the wiki as a form of advertising, it is an encyclopedia, not a video sharing site. I strongly urge you to read the policy page to learn more about contributing constructively to this wiki. If you continue to advertise on the wiki, you will be subject to a block. Thank you.

{{{2}}}

Again, although it is courtesy to assume good faith with new users, videos or files that may look like they were added for advertising should be removed and the uploader should be informed with this template. On the user's talk page, place {{Advertising|File:Example.jpg|~~~~}} to use this template.

50px This page uses content from Wikipedia. The original article was at Call of Duty Wiki:Templates. The list of authors can be seen in the page history. As with the Byte Sandbox Wikia, the text of Wikipedia is available under the Creative Commons License.

Whenever content is copied directly from Wikipedia onto a page, use this template.

Clear Edit

{{clr}}, plus {{clrl}} and {{clrr}}

  • This template is used to reduce the amount of non-wikicode used on pages, replacing the code <br style="clear:both;" />. Its use should generally be avoided.
  • You can use {{clr}} instead of the HTML tag that clears space below things like images, pictures and tables, so the following stuff doesn't begin until the bottom of the image, picture or table box.
  • You can also use {{clrl}} or {{clrr}} to clear only left or right floats.

LanguageEdit

Warning: There is language on this page that some readers may consider offensive.

  • This template is used at the top of a page, when that page contains possibly offensive information, including cussing.

{{language}}

Right-aligned Table of Contents Edit

{{tocright}}

  • This template floats the table of contents (toc) on the right. It should only be used when absolutely necessary, to keep consistent design.

Sandbox Edit

{{sandbox}}

T is for template Edit

{{t|<template>}}

  • This template allows you to show example template code (with a link to the templates) without using the template itself. It is used extensively on this page.
